Grants and Projects

Principal Investigator

  • Indiana University, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grant (April 2024- April 2025): Utilizing generative AI as a self-regulated learning tool in a software system engineering class.
  • Indiana University, Grade Surprise Grant (April 2024- April 2025): The objective of this grant is to address issues related to grade surprise, enhance student performance, cultivate a sense of belonging, and positively impact the overall academic experience of students in an engineering class.
  • The Ministry of Industry and Technology DAP Presidency Grant- (April 2021- December 2021)- 950.000 TL: This grant aimed to create a new makerspace at Inonu University and included various labs and learning spaces for teacher candidates, including a computer, robotics, STEAM, VR/AR, and woodwork labs.
  • Inonu University, Institutional Research Grant– (January 2019- January 2020) – 48.500 TL: This research aimed to design a new course based on the fundamentals of flipped learning approach and principles of the backward design model in a teacher education course in CS education. In addition, this project helped higher education faculty design courses with student-centered practices in diverse student contexts.

Project Member

  • Indiana University, Layered-Learning Program for Undergraduate Researchers- TechTeach Innovation: Collaborative Cohorts for Educational Game-Based Learning.  (August 2025, present)- 65,000 $. In this project, I collaborate with the colleagues in the School of Education to create educational games through a collaboration between undergraduate teacher education and computer engineering students. The project emphasizes cross-disciplinary teamwork, integrating educational theories and technological skills to develop a game that caters to diverse learning styles using Universal Design for Learning and the Engineering Design Process.
  • TUBITAK 4005 Grant: Computer Science Teachers Designing and Producing from Electronics to Robotics with Makers Movement (May 2018- December 2018) – 54.000 ₺: In this project, I helped the project team design an electronics and robotics workshop for CS teachers using design-based learning pedagogy. (co-advisor)
  • Indiana University, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grant (2013). In this study, the team examined the outcomes of a virtual dialogue between pre-service teachers and in-service teachers who had been recognized for their exemplary use of technology in the classroom.
  • ITEST-Strategies: Human-Centered Robotics Experiences for Exploring Engineering, Computer Science, and Society (2015) – (743,688.00 $): An NSF project to engage more students from urban and rural areas in STEM fields. In this project, I worked with Distinguished Prof. Dr. Cindy Hmelo-Silver with a team of researchers. I helped the team design a curriculum to address the technical and societal aspects of human-centered robotics.
